Overview:

The Yorkiepoo is created by the crossing of two breeds: Yorkshire Terrier and Poodle. They are commonly referred to as "designer dogs" and are extremely popular.

Character:

The ideal Yorkiepoo should be well-proportioned, sturdy and robust in appearance. They typically possess a lively and keen expression. They may have the long ears of the Poodle or the erect ears of the Yorkshire Terrier.

Temperament:

The Yorkiepoo is not recommended for homes with small children. They are loyal, loving, affectionate, feisty, and clever. They do well with dogs and non-canine pets they have been raised with. Yorkiepoo's are very family oriented and do not do well if ignored or left alone for extended periods of time. Boredom or loneliness will lead to destructive behavior and incessant barking. They are suspicious of strangers and will alert their family to visitors and out of the ordinary sounds.

Care:

Depending>Training:

Early socialization and obedience are recommended. The Yorkiepoo may be stubborn and difficult to housebreak. They will not respond to harsh or heavy-handed methods. Training must be done with firmness, fairness, patience, and consistency.

Activity:

The Yorkiepoo is well suited for apartment living provided they are sufficiently exercised and mentally stimulated. They are relatively active indoors and should have a variety of safe toys to keep them occupied. Yorkiepoo's enjoy family play sessions, securely leashed walks, and off-lead play in a fenced yard.
